About US

Things to know

The United States of America Coton de Tulear Club was formed in 1993 by Leon and Helga Lopatin who loved the breed. The Club has enjoyed twenty three years of growth and success. We continue to add new members, both breeders and companion pet owners. As the only Coton de Tulear club that is democratic (with one vote per member) and run by a board of directors, all members have an opportunity to participate in club activities. It gives you, the members, a real say in what the club does, and how it is run making for a truly successful organization.

The USACTC offers its members and the public a wide range of services and information.  The newsletter, full of interesting articles on grooming, training, health and much more.  Filled with photos of Cotons, it gives members a great way to communicate with each other and to show off their Cotons, as well as to learn more about the Coton.

All members can participate, and we welcome your stories and photos.   Club championships give those who show an opportunity to earn a breed club championship.  Coton rescue is also an important part of the services of USACTC through our affiliated Coton Rescue Group.

We maintain a Breeders Directory and publish it online. Many of our breeders subscribe to the USACTC Code of Ethics. Breeders from across the United States are active in USACTC, Inc and are listed on this site.

USACTC, Inc is the AKC Parent Club, national club and offers owners, breeders and fanciers an invaluable opportunity to network with each other and share information, especially important because of the uniqueness of the Coton de Tulear breed.

We also offer advertising opportunities through this web site and in our newsletter to members.
More than anything, the USACTC offers its members an opportunity to work together for the breed, to make lasting friendships with other people who have Cotons. We encourage participation, and welcome new members.

The Coton de Tulear is still rare and it is only through continued breeder and owner education, the promotion of responsible dog ownership and ethical breeding practices that we will be able to safeguard the future of the Coton de Tulear breed.
